We're lovers, NOT Haters
LADY GAGA, an essay
So now according to the news Lady Gaga is banned in several asian countries. Mostly the reaction came from few religious groups offended by Gaga's performance in her Alejandro clip (just go to youtube if you havent watched it yet, because you should before you continue reading). The problem is Gaga is seen to commit some 'atrocious' act toward christian symbols during the clip.
To be honest, I like the Alejandro song, despite the fact that SOME people (many many references on the net, google it if you need to know) interpreted it as a blasphemy againts christian gods. I like the tune, i like the beat, i like the costume, and mostly i like the dance (but not the 'on the bed'-dance). It's well directed and very artistic.
For your info, I'm just ordinary civilian, not associated with ANY religious sect who admit themselves to be religious men but incite hates amongst themselves anyway. Although i still consider myself a christian, i'm the kind of men who doesnt just do anything the reverend says. Some churches in my neighbourhood issued banned againts Gaga and forbid their offspring watch her clip or listen to her music. As I say, in the title, we're lovers not haters, so that kind of act is anti-productive. Since people will be more seduced to it than before (curiosity gets the better of society, always the case)
However, the moment Gaga decide to use christian symbol, kinda make my CONSCIENCE stirred. I say conscience, not heart or religious views. Why? Because according to me, conscience is the basic law of human life. People dont need justice system or law enforcement if they can just live by their conscience (i'm not talking about psychopath or super criminal, just ordinary people here). According to dictionary it's "The awareness of a moral or ethical aspect to one's conduct together with the urge to prefer right over wrong" The keyword here is moral and ethical.
Moral : The lesson or principle contained in or taught by a fable, a story, or an event
No moral people will exploits ANY religious symbol without some kind of INTENTION. The logical example is as follows :
If, say, a buddhist exploits buddhist symbols, he betrays his own belief, therefore, putting him in position of immoral individual, since he would betray his own moral code that he believed.
If, say, a buddhist exploits christian symbols, then he is a hater, because he has no respect for other people's value.
Hence, regardless the belief, people who exploits religious symbol is either an immoral or a hater.
Now let's discuss INTENTION. What would be the intention of Gaga or her art director or her crew, dancers, record label, MTV, etc, whatever... To make and publish the clip?
Only 1 answer to it. Regardless how people respond to the clip, the answer is always money. You get free publication via controversy from people's various receptance responds...
Undoubtly, people love controversy, people love 'rebel' stuff (in Gaga's case, againts christian influence), thats why she gained fast-track popularity. Obviously, good tune, nice song, aren't enough these days to gain popularity. Artists have to rebel againts something to be popular fast enough :)
Clearly, Gaga doesnt have ANYTHING she believe in, otherwise these clip wouldnt have been made, were she to disagree to the idea.
Lets say, if the cross symbol on her crotch were american / british flag, she would banned so fast she wouldnt have the chance to say 'bite me'.
Religious symbols are easier to offend because religion doesnt have law or justice system other than people's conscience.
Ethical : Being in accordance with the accepted principles of right and wrong that govern the conduct of a profession.
Now, that we've done concluding Gaga's moral, lets look at her ethics. In short, why dont you guys just look at the clip and tell yourself that the clip is ethical. For real? Not.
Even though many people say the 'bed dance' is artistic or whatever, would you say its ethical to be published to the media full with vulnerable watchers (underages are free to access the clip) ?
I know a LOT of artistic dance that doesnt need to be vulgar or unethical and still watchable by underages. Lets say Michael Jackson (GodRestHisSoul), or Madonna, or those 90s artists. What? You guys dont like moonwalk anymore? Our threshold has passed since then? We now tolerated more vulgar in our media? We're bored with those mediocre 90s dance move? True... maybe for the people of the United States that's true. Very true indeed. The US become so corrupt you can no longer see which is ethical or unethical... :D
Want some prove ?
Look at India, the bollywood still make more agressive and modified traditional dance without looking vulgar or unethical and people still love it. Have you seen Julia Roberts' Mirror Mirror? That ending credits clip explains my argument.
Look at Japan, or Hongkong or Korea, the singers dance beautifully without putting symbols or whatever intentions they have, to charm the audiences. And people still love it.
Look at the spanish dance (whatever its called, tango or salsa), it's artistic without feeling vulgar or unethical.
Lets face it, if you ask yourself, what do those people's (who dance with that kind of moves on the bed wearing body-fit latex outfit) intention when they make the clip? What do you intend to inspire people from those kind of dance if you were the director? What kind of positive influence (improvement) do we gain from that kind of dance ? (other than bring out lust and desire over the dancer? or grossing nett profit of course, seeing how people love those controversy, new stuff, or whatever it is...)
Now, to sum it all up Gaga is an immoral or a hater with intention to bring out your desire.
Even if I'm a lover, not a hater, I cannot love a hater, because of the negative logical implication, neither can i love an immoral, because she wouldnt know love without moral, let alone loving someone who bring out sexual desire to the public :D
As much as I like her performances, I think Gaga is not worth an idol with all that she define herself with. Her voice are not that stellar to begin with (i think american idols sing better than her), let alone her face or looks (my english teacher is more gorgeous in my opinion, ask me her fb acc if you want to see her). So the only option she has on gaining popularity was through scandal and controversy by offending other people's believe. And surprisingly, the people LOVE her for it !!! :D hurrraayyy...
As a proof, in Indonesia, where she supposed to held her concert at, the people protesting againts her coming were the moslems , not christians. Given the fact that most christians in Indonesia are rich people with spoiled kids who idolized Gaga for whatever reason their empty brains dicided. Some christian who're not rich are not that many to organize protests againts her.
But all this just my ramblings to the Gaga controversy. My opinion have nothing to do with society. As i always say, "Dont believe everything you read, use your conscience instead"....
